Legacy of Service

The late Mrs. Leo Harris, a former schoolteacher, worked for nearly two years to bring a chapter of The Links, Incorporated to the Brunswick area. When her dream became a reality, she contacted eleven other women in the community who she thought might be interested in becoming Lis.

In compliance with the National Headquarters Chapter Establishment requirements, the local group was sponsored by the Savannah Chapter of The Links, Incorporated.

The Brunswick (GA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated was duly chartered and officers installed by the Area Director, Link Maude Reid of Miami, Florida, on December 10, 1966, at the Carriage Inn, Jekyll Island, Georgia. The twelve Charter members were Lila Brown, Orrie Bryant, Wilma Castelio, Virginia Dent, Ethel Griffin, Leo Harris, Gertrude Holmes, Lelner Parham, Lula Robinson, Josephine Wilkes, Birdie Williams, and Ruth Williams. The original officers of the Brunswick (GA) chapter were Leo Harris, President; Ruth Williams, Vice President; Virginia Dent, Secretary; and Lila Brown, Treasurer.

Throughout its fifty-five years of existence, program initiatives have been implemented to increase the awareness of cultural and educational opportunities within the communities.

Locally, we continue to support organizations and community activities with monetary contributions, educational forums, and volunteer services opportunities.

The Brunswick (GA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated currently has 31 active members.
